Biography


Originally from Palo Alto, California, tenor Kevin N. Traugott made his New York City debut at Avery Fisher Hall, Lincoln Center, singing the tenor solo in Beethoven’s Choral Fantasy. Other American highlights include collaborations with the Boston Symphony Orchestra and Tanglewood Institute under Maestro Seji Ozawa. Mr. Traugott has also performed internationally, having been engaged in back to back seasons at the New International Opera Festival di Roma, Italy where he performed the roles of Sesto in Handle’s Giulo Cesare, Monostatos in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte and Bardolpho as well as Fenton (cover) in Verdi’s Falstaff, all under the direction of Maestro Stefano Vignati. While in Europe, Mr. Traugott also received training at the Internationale Akademie Mozarteum in Salzburg, Austria, in an intimate masterclass setting with soprano Gundula Janowitz.

Other European credits include the Spoleto Vocal Arts Festival, Italy as well as both lyric tenor operatic repertoire and a diverse song recital program throughout England and Denmark. Having recently relocated to Berlin, Germany, Mr. Traugott has performed the role of Malcolm in Verdi’s Macbeth with Berlin International Opera as well as Gastone in Verdi’s La Traviata at Heimathafen Neuköln. Holding both American and Danish citizenships, Mr. Traugott is excited about living in Europe and is looking forward to expanding his repertoire and experiences within Europe. Other roles performed include Goro in Puccini’s Madama Butterfly, Borsa in Verdi’s Rigoletto with Sing Through Central New York as well as Don Curzio and Basilio in Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro with San Francisco Summer Music West.

Mr. Traugott has also been a soloist with New York City’s Remarkable Theater Brigade, a not-for-profit organization that focuses on providing at-risk and special-needs children with an opportunity to experience exciting theatrical and musical productions. A student of Fred Carama, Mr. Traugott received his training from both the Eastman School of Music and the San Francisco Conservatory of Music.
